PostSubject: Swf (exported flash files) Signatures!   Mon Jul 30, 2007 7:04 am

NOTE: Only reply to this topic if you have troubles with the given information/tutorial. All other posts will be deleted.

If you use Flash, you can make your own signature by doing the following:
1) Export it as a swf file
2) upload it on http://www.denvish.net/ul/index.php.
3) copy the link that comes after File:.
4) on your signature page, press the Flash button to get the text:
[embed-flash(width,height)]
5) enter the dimensions of your swf file in place of the text width and height
6) put the copied link after the ], then press the Flash button again. Make sure there is no space before you press the Flash button again, or else it won't work.

To take a game from a different site and use it:[/u]
1) when playing the swf game
in Firefox: go to View -> Page Source
in Internet Explorer: View -> Source
2) search for .swf
3) once you get to a link, copy that link
4) on your signature page, press the Flash button to get the text:
[embed-flash(width,height)]
5) enter the dimensions of your swf file in place of the text width and height
6) put the copied link after the ], then press the Flash button again. Make sure there is no space before you press the Flash button again, or else it won't work.

NOTE: New discovery! You can embed flash files into posts too. BUT THEY MUST BE IN QUOTES. Not to mention it's very glitchy and pretty much never works unless your whole post is the swf file.

EXAMPLES:
My signature, and demo's signature.

ADMINISTRATIVE NOTE: This applies for all signatures, but especially for flash files. The file cannot be larger than 250 (px) in height, and if it is 250 then the file must be alone, with nothing below it. It can stretch as wide as the screen permits, but be courteous with your space.

It's not a flash file, I'm thinking it's java. Which you can't use. Sorry.
I could replicate on for you in flash I guess, I just gotta re-learn actionscript, been a long time since I've used it.

Yes...
Notice how I made my signature, very, VERY simple, but effective for the most part. Took me like 5 minutes to make lol Razz

I like...I like...what program do you use? I always wanted to learn how to do flash.... Is it good? And is it free? And how do you recommend learning flash? A site, tutorials, program? Thanks.

Flash obviously! lol

The newest version of Flash is Flash CS3 (Macromedia, the original makers of Flash, were bought out by Adobe) and I am unsure of how good it is.
The version I use is Flash 8 Professional, anything older is basically the same with less features, same layout, etc.
It's a multi-hundred dollar program, so you'll need some other method of getting it Wink

Okay, as for tutorials, the absolute BEST website for tutorials is http://www.flashkit.com/tutorials/. A lot of the tutorials are for older versions of Flash, a lot are for Flash 5 (absolutely obsolete now), but as I said the newer versions just added features. Follow what old tutorials say and it should still work fine.

PS: I totally updated my sig a bit ago and it has sound Razz

Okay, soul, use this for your signature.

Code:
[embed-flash(500,200)]http://denvish.net/ulf/300707/80019_Untitled-2.swf[/embed-flash]

edit > nvm I gotta mod it so it even works for people whose mouse speeds are increased.

edit > there.. that's better Razz

No problem, and it also has a transparent background so you can use it on any forum or whatever... Smile

Enjoyed my sig eh? lol Razz

PS: I just played with yours for like a minute too and I already played with a bunch while making and testing.. o.o

OH NO! I found an error. If you hold the mouse button down then go over the button and let go you can sit there and click all day Sad I gotta fix that. brb.

..kk well there's no fix for that. I assumed the event on(dragOver) would do it, on(dragOut) didn't do it either, pretty much nothing worked. I guess you'll have to deal with that glitch Razz

Chu can do with JavaScript, buahahaha. I made one of those when I first started working with HTML/CSS/JavaScript, and I thought I was such a smarty-pants...
...I must have this "Flash" thing everyone keeps talking about. Me and my old school geeking just ain't doing it these days.
