PostSubject: Reaction Timer   Sat Jul 28, 2007 9:43 am

Here's a link to an interesting reaction-time tester from BBC. Nestharus (practice2play) showed it to me, and I think it's a great thing to test how well you can react to elements in mazes and such.
Nes says the universal average is .25, but most people I've seen so far have been able to get below .2 fairly easily. See how low you can get.

Sometimes I'm too lazy to react and I let it walk by. Seriously, I just watch it walk by!
But the lowest I got I think was 0.135

I'm thinking of making this reaction thing a mandatory test for our clan...maybe not. Well, anyone else who tries it please write down your best single timer and best average and write it in a post using this syntax:

(Your name)
Best Avg: (Best average time)
Best Sng: (Best single time)

INCLUDE A SCREENSHOT (If you can't figure your screenshots out just google "irfanview", a simple program that will do most image editing easily)

Yeah that's a good idea.
If their average is above 0.5, they should go touch themselves or something.

To be a grunt how about you must have an average less than 0.2. Peons need less than 0.4 - 0.5.

Nah, that's too easy.
As stated before, the universal average is .25...and that's for normal people, we should be able to excel. I will make it so that, to be a peon, you must have below that average, and to be a grunt you must have below, uh, .17 or something, I dunno.
At the same time, I don't want it to depend entirely on reaction time, cause reaction isn't everything, so maybe just make it part of the overall requirements.

Then again, we test reaction time in our maze maps with those "random spawners" that just send people from a random spot at the end to the front of an area, that's the best way to test reflexes O.o
Also, surprise things, like when you walk somewhere suddenly something spawns in front/behind you.

This isnt exactly the best reaction timer, cuz the bottom is a little harder than the rest simply cuz of the brush there and the extra 2 sheep, and maybe its just my mouse but sumtimes the sheep didn't stop when i clicked the tranquilizer

I agree, Smoke. When the sheep come out of the bush at the bottom I respond much slower than above.
Unfortunately, with random areas (like on PE3 and PE4) with all the spawned units, if you're good you can just look ahead and not even have to worry about reaction time. Kinda defeats the purpose...unless you lock the camera.

Funny, I react slower to the guys on the bottom than the guys on the top Smile

Yeah, apparently I mis-read???
Seriously, I coulda sworn they said they react faster with sheep at the damned bottom.

Wow, I edited because I said I coulda sworn they said they reacted slower. Wow I'm on crack.

Well, I just played but I got kneed in the back of the head for soccer so I'm not at my best right now, I might even have a concussion. But I thought I would report an amusing incident. I did a few rounds of randomly clicking at various times for fun, and I got lucky and got one right when it started, earning a reaction time of .00000 Very Happy:D:D:D Unfortunately I do not have a screen shot :/ On my sisters laptop! Sad

I don't think that is a good judgement of reflexes because i think it is bugged. One time i clicked the button and nothing happenend.. another game i clicked it and got a time of 0.0000 so i think there are a few flaws. But i think it is very entertaining.
